Metal has always been a favored building material because of its durability. The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City is full of distinctive metal details. The metal details give character and history to the area. We had the privilege of restoring the bronze Plaza Building sign on what is now the Restoration Hardware Building. The refinished sign looks as good as new.
The Plaza Theater originally opened on October 9, 1928 and its 72 foot tower was a prominent Country Club Plaza landmark. The building was primarily a movie house, but also hosted musical performances and lectures. It was later remodeled to accommodate the Kansas City Philharmonic. In the 1980s it returned to showing movies, but sadly the theater closed its doors in 1999. Restoration Hardware remodeled it and you can still see many of the original exterior details and character of the old Plaza Theater Building.
