KC Restoration recently got to work in one of Kansas City’s architectural icons – the Central Library! We were hired to remove years of rust and restore the bank vault that Kansas Citians have come to know as the Stanley Durwood Film Vault. It started out as a bank vault installed around 1925 in the basement of the First National Bank building which following a $50,000,000 transformation opened as the Central Library in 2004. A few years later, in 2007, the film vault’s movie theater space was completed. It was an honor to restore the one-of-a-kind vault entry, and we think our results speak for themselves. Check out these before and after photos or see our work in person by catching a movie in this beautiful space.
