How to identify your metal handrails:

Handrails are built in many different configurations. The parts will vary if they are floor-mounted or wall-mounted and placed in the interior or the exterior of your building.

When considering metal maintenance, do not overlook handrails inside elevator cabs, in restrooms, in emergency stairwells, and on balconies.

Metal handrails are often polished stainless steel with either a satin or gloss finish. They can be altered in color with a patina or a coating such as a specialized paint for metal.

Be sure to inspect all handrails for damage, residue from use, and rust. In some cases, rust can be removed, halted and prohibited without costly replacement of the railing. Rust does not contain itself.
