Check out these photos of KC Restoration’s work on the art deco finishes to the exterior of the Aladdin Hotel in downtown Kansas City. It was an honor to get to work on one of the gems of the city’s architectural heritage and bring the shine back to this historic hotel’s bronze exterior details and its elevators.
Built in 1925 in an Italian Romanesque style with a blue terra cotta pyramidal roof, this 16-story hotel was extensively restored in 2007 to bring back its original ambiance. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has hosted such well-known figures as Mickey Mantle and Greta Garbo, as well as several supposed mobsters of the 1920s and 1930s. With such historic surroundings, we couldn’t help imagining all the people who stayed with this grand dame and what would be said if the walls could talk.
