December is National Write a Business Plan Month

National Write a Business Plan Month is an annual designation observed in December. Have you ever thought about starting your own business, but aren’t sure about what steps to take? KC Restoration is here to help! Every business needs a business plan, and it’s a great step in the right direction when it comes to creating your own company. Whether you want it to be your livelihood or just a side gig, putting together a well-researched and detailed business plan will make your life a whole lot easier in the weeks to come.

Bill and LeAnn Luemmen decided to start their own restoration services company in 2011 but it was not easy. Leaving their civil servant careers in Los Angeles in 2010, they came to Kansas City seeking a better life and education for their daughter. They started working out of their basement and grew from a staff of 2 to 18 over the years and have been selected as one of the 10 Best Small Businesses in Kansas City by the KC Chamber, 25 Under 25 by Thinking Bigger Media and Best Existing Business by the SBDC Johnson County. They now operate out of a sizable office in Olathe with the help of personnel in Operations, Sale, Marketing, Accounting and Human Resources.

Their success however was not only the result of hard work, but from the help of a mentorship program called SCORE. The Kansas City SCORE chapter has many volunteers with a wide variety of business backgrounds. Their Mission is to provide resources and expertise to maximize the success of existing and emerging small businesses. They provide a variety of resources including business advice from expert advisors, education on a variety of business topics including marketing, finance and accounting, management, and others, and the latest in small business strategies and trends. If you would like some helpful tips or additional information about SCORE, starting your own business, or writing a business plan, contact KC Restoration today!
