You may have noticed that a number of KC Restoration’s posts have advised using chlorine-free cleaners. When it comes to the metal inside or outside your home or business, it is best to avoid anything with chloride or chloride-based ingredients. Chloride ion molecules interact with metal in an electrochemical reaction which accelerates the metal molecules’ interaction with surrounding oxygen creating metal-oxide molecules. This oxidation results in metal corrosion or what is commonly called rust, so keep an eye out for product labels with chlorine and for chlorides in ingredient lists. If you have any more questions about protecting the metal around your home or business, call the experts at KC Restoration for answers. (913) 766-2200.
